Introduction

The master of science in International Economics and Finance (IEF) from Valparaiso University provides students with theoretical and analytical training in the economic, financial, and policy aspects of global business and commerce. This 36-credit program is designed for U.S. and international students seeking to acquire skills to develop strategies and policies for a complex global business environment. Students will learn to apply economic models and statistical methodology to develop a keen understanding of local and global economic issues, consumer and firm behavior, trade and currency flows, and investments. They also will have the opportunity to earn a certificate in Applied Econometrics and Data Science Foundations using SAS while obtaining hands-on experience in data manipulation, econometric modeling, and forecasting techniques. They will learn to conduct complicated data analysis, a valuable skill in the design and implementation of solutions to business and policy questions. The program can be completed in 18 months of full-time coursework. Graduates of this degree program will be well-positioned to work in the profit, nonprofit, and government sectors.
