MA in International Relations

The master of arts in international relations (M.A.I.R.) is designed to give you the knowledge and skills you need to critically analyze and assess global affairs.

Our faculty members are accomplished scholars who are widely published and respected in the field. Many are also policy experts, bringing their real-world experience as executives, consultants, and advisors with international organizations (such as the United Nations, the International Committee of the Red Cross, the World Bank, Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), and the International Court of Justice) to the classroom. Their relationships in both the academic and diplomatic worlds open doors to distinctive learning experiences, practica, and internships for our students.

As a busy graduate student in international relations, you can customize your degree to fit your schedule by taking a mix of in-classroom and online courses. The program also extends to eight of Webster’s international locations, which means you can study abroad, gaining in-depth exposure to different cultures and socio-political environments. Mentorship

As a M.A.I.R. student, you are able to take advantage of Webster’s Mentorship Program, which provides you with a mentor’s practical career knowledge and guidance in a field matching or closely-related to your interests. For a period of six months, mentors help you gain practical insight into life after graduation and inspire you to achieve your own success.

Program Curriculum (36 Credit Hours)

The M.A.I.R. program enables students to analyze the complexities and processes involved in world politics and international affairs. Coursework will provide you with a depth and breadth of knowledge relating to international security, international political economy, development, and human rights. You will also explore topics such as terrorism, international organizations, international law, and comparative politics.
