To God be the glory, the Department has established in September 2004/2005 Academic Session in the College of Science and Technology of the University. The programme is to provide sound knowledge in all aspects of Mechanical Engineering (as well as provide) advanced knowledge that would (facilitate) specialization in the four fields of Mechanical Engineering: Thermo-Fluid, Machine Design, Production and Metallurgy, and Materials. Largely due to the importance of information technology especially in the areas of drawing, data management, and simulation, the curriculum has recently been totally reviewed and the contents of the programme have been increased.
To produce a total graduate empowered with the standards and practice of Mechanical Engineering in the field and beyond who will fit properly into the African Industrial and Manufacturing Sectors....

In the electromechanical age, Electrical Engineering as a discipline was monolithic. The name Department of Electrical Engineering was adopted by Universities offering the programme. Then came the era of microelectronics which broadened the discipline to Electrical and Electronic Engineering; and Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering became the order of the day. The computer age followed and it became fashionable to have a Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. The new realm now is an Information age and in order to cope effectively with industry’s labour demand, it is imperative to design programmes and curricula to meet this demand. Hence, the new nomenclature of Department of Electrical and Information Engineering; and the programmes offered in this Department....

Mechatronics – a synergistic combination of precision engineering, electronic control, and mechanical systems
Mechatronics is a relatively new discipline of the applied science, created as a result of a deep merging of different fields of technology, such as electronics, mechanics, automation, and robotics. Today, in our everyday life, in industry and science we use equipment of very complex structure using state-of-the-art mechanical engineering solutions as well as sophisticated control systems managed by modern electronic hardware and extended software. The aim of MSc studies on mechatronics is to prepare students for independent creative work in the scope of analysis and design of mechanical equipment, mechanical design, design rules of electronic systems and industrial automatic control systems....

Master of Fine Arts in Transportation DesignStudents of Art Center’s Graduate Program in Transportation Design will help change the thinking of the automotive industry and the wider field of transportation and personal mobility. The program will offer a choice of two tracks: the Vehicle Track and the Transportation Systems track. The Vehicle Track will be for those who wish to enter or re-enter the vehicle manufacturing industry and who are motivated to use creativity and strategic thinking beyond the sketchpad. The Transportation Systems track will be for those who are motivated to use design and systems thinking to create better transportation solutions at a systems level rather than at a product level. There is growing recognition within business and industry that designers bring important value well beyond product and service development. Therefore, both tracks of our program are a curricular mix of design methodology, strategic innovation, systems thinking, customer-driven research and superior communication skills. This, combined with a specialist knowledge and understanding of the respective fields, will equip graduates to become agents of change across a broad transportation landscape. Our program is a unique resource of creative leadership for all vehicle manufacturers as well as organizations and agencies responsible for planning, implementing and delivering complex transportation systems solutions for national, state and local use.Our program will flourish with a diverse student population. Vehicle Track students will come with strong transportation design skills. The Transportation Systems track will welcome students with prior degrees in subjects such as design, architecture, urban planning, business administration, engineering, anthropology or...

The Sound and Visual Technology programme gives you the opportunity to study two of the most engaging and rapidly developing fields in the arts and culture. You will choose either sound or visual technology as your main specialty, but you will also gain an in-depth working knowledge of the other field.
Beyond your core specialties, you will develop your skills in entrepreneurship, teamwork and project management. Practice is at the core of the curriculum, and you will apply what you learned in the classroom straight away with practical activities and by working in creative teams.

Study at the World's number one ranked art and design university for five consecutive years (2015-2019) in the QS World University Subject Rankings.
About the Programme
The MA Intelligent Mobility programme will comprise two distinct specialisms: Automotive Transitions and Urban Mobility. Automotive Transitions students will focus on using design thinking to develop innovative forms of transportation, such as autonomous vehicles. Urban Mobility students will focus on designing the systems and frameworks that enable people to move through hyper-connected cities. The programme will also acknowledge and explore solutions for 80 per cent of people in developing or emerging economies who do not have access to transport. This programme is incorporated into the RCA's Intelligent Mobility Lab, a multidisciplinary research centre dedicated to the future of transportation design, systems and urban mobility, led by Director and inaugural Chair in Intelligent Mobility Professor Dale Harrow. MA Intelligent Mobility aims to place the RCA in the vanguard of the ‘third age’ of automotive design....

This is a creative, studio-focused course with a strong commitment to design research. It offers an internationally transposable professional-level architectural education leading to a qualification that meets the Architects Registration Board (ARB) and Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) Part 2 exemption. This course is listed in the Commonwealth Association of Architects' approved courses.
With the design studio taking centre stage during your studies, you will be challenged to develop solutions to a series of architectural design problems. Your course will explore current topical issues in architecture, including historical and philosophical thought, contemporary conditions of urban inhabitation, challenges to a sustainable ecology and the ramifications of modern technology. You will forge an individual approach to architecture as you explore your personal interests in relation to city, regional, national and global design perspectives....

MFA in Transportation Design
Masters programme, 120 ECTS-credits
During the last century man has come to depend on transportation as a social and lifestyle necessity. The world has evolved with the desire and need to use vehicles. Cars, for instance, have become an integral part of our culture.
Our Transportation Design Programme is unique in its scope of interest, dealing with the whole transportation design field in cooperation with industry. Students are educated to have an open mind on both conceptual ideas and detailed realistic design solutions. They are encouraged to have a balanced thinking process where form and function work together.
The Transportation Design Programme gives the student competence to work with design and development of different types of vehicles; from bicycles and cars to public transportation means such as trains, buses and aircrafts. This is the first course of its type in the Nordic countries....
