The MS in Sustainable Building Technology is a 30 credit-hour post-professional degree program for practitioners in architecture, construction, engineering, and other allied fields. -

The Master of Science in Architecture is an advanced, multidisciplinary, 32-credit hour thesis degree program designed to provide highly qualified students with a traditional academic foundation in theoretical concepts and research methods in Architecture. In this program, students pursue support courses and develop a thesis topic in an emphasis area offered by the department or research centers associated with the college. The MS degree is a non-professional degree for those seeking advanced knowledge in preparation for careers in architectural research, university teaching, or specialized practice and consulting. The degree may also serve as a pathway toward a Ph.D. in architecture. Admission to the Master of Science in Architecture program is offered to those students possessing professional degrees in architecture as well as to those possessing undergraduate degrees in related disciplines. Admission depends upon the chosen area of research and the availability of qualified faculty in emphasis areas identified by applicants. -

The Master of Science in Architecture (M.S. Arch.) program is a non-studio research program that prepares students for careers in research, teaching, consulting, and further graduate study (Doctorate or Ph.D). We offer two concentrations (see below), several focus areas, and access to any topics that can be found in the expertise of our faculty. The program stresses critical writing and research methods. The educational opportunities are enriched by the College of Architecture’s location in downtown San Antonio, which has a rich heritage of historic architecture and urbanism. -

The 48 hour Master of Science in Urban and Regional Planning (M.S. URP) is designed to prepare students for leadership roles and careers in the public and private sectors of planning and designing communities and regions. The program has a strong focus on land use planning; design; policy; and economic, environmental, and cultural issues that shape urban and regional land development patterns in terms of infrastructure, housing, and open space systems. Emphasis is placed on developing research capabilities and graphic skills needed in planning. The degree program’s primary focus is to prepare students to become practitioners in the planning profession. The MSURP is taught with support of the Department of Public Administration in the College of Public Policy. -
