There is in Basque society a close relationship with mountains, forests, and wood by tradition, from the care of trees to the construction of buildings or even boats. Wood has been a material used and well known by our ancestors, without forgetting that it is also a current and future material. Wood construction systems have evolved solving different issues in architecture, thus today very simple systems and highly sophisticated systems are mixed that point towards a more sustainable future. The Basque Government, in collaboration with the UPV / EHU, aspires to achieve the highest levels of quality and innovation in local wood products. The objective of this master is to train highly qualified technicians to respond to this imminent need; from the knowledge of the characteristics of the material to the design and execution of new structures or the intervention in existing ones. We are facing a diversity of emerging markets around this self-healing material and the promotion of wood in sustainable construction is considered crucial. -
