This is a unique program in Cyprus and the region, which aims to provide new scientific knowledge that will enrich and enhance the research and academic careers of its participant students. Furthermore, the postgraduate program will equip students with a wide range of transferable practical skills that will give them a significant advantage in the current and future competitive labor market. The program’s goal is to prepare students for careers as scientists and experts in Cultural Heritage with a strong background in digital tools and scientific methods. Graduates of the program will be competitive to pursue work in the private or public sectors of Archaeology, Cultural Heritage Management, History, Art Architecture, Museum Studies, or the Study, Rehabilitation, and Management of the Historical Structured Environment.

The Master’s programme Digital Heritage and Landscape Archaeology of the University of Cyprus is a unique postgraduate programme in the area of the E. Mediterranean that offers a concrete interdisciplinary academic course platform dealing with the application of spatial technologies and GeoInformatics in the wider domain of Digital Humanities.

The programme is primarily designed for those interested in the scientific investigation of language. It is designed for students who are interested in linguistics as a field of study and who wish to explore both its theoretical foundations and practical applications. 

The aim of the new MSc Artificial Intelligence programme, starting in September 2022, and which will be delivered in English, is to be a modern programme, containing a strong interdisciplinary element as required by human-centric, explainable, and responsible artificial intelligence.

The main objective of the Master of Science in Computer Engineering/Master of Engineering in Computer Engineering program is to educate and train in-depth engineers in various fields of computer engineering, who will subsequently be able to solve advanced computer engineering problems using software tools and state-of-the-art equipment. In this problem-solving process, technological constraints and constraints inherent to the problem at hand, both in terms of hardware and software, are taken into account. The program emphasizes mastery in the field of interest of each student as well as advanced knowledge of other subjects in related areas. It is tailored to meet the needs of each student with some certain general restrictions set by the Department. The course offerings provide the student with an opportunity to deepen his or her knowledge in a specific area of electrical engineering, as well as broaden his or her knowledge by also taking courses in a number of other areas of electrical engineering. The program prepares graduates for distinguished practice in electrical engineering; equipping students with the necessary skills and tools for pursuing engineering solutions to current engineering problems while being responsibly aware of all implications associated with the proposed solution. To that end, the curriculum provides a sound theoretical background along with current, practical tools and techniques for solving complex electrical engineering problems.

The Master’s Program in Environmental Engineering of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering is designed to equip its graduates with the expertise, the soft and hard skills necessary to address the ongoing and future environmental challenges threatening the security and resilience of the ecosystem, and the societal wellbeing. These challenges, aggravated by the changing climate, include, for example, atmospheric and air pollution, deterioration in water quality, urban waste treatment, environmental pollution, erosion of the coastline and decarbonization of the energy nexus.

There are professional opportunities for civil and environmental engineers in both private practice and public services. Graduates from the Master’s program in “Civil Engineering” may pursue careers in design, construction, maintenance, management, or research and development. For example, in urban or developing population areas and industrial centers, civil and environmental engineers serve the public as planners, designers, and supervisors of transportation systems, water resources projects, pollution control facilities, and private and public utility enterprises.

The MSc in Data Science program brings together the expertise of three departments in the University of Cyprus – Business and Public Administration, Computer Science, and Mathematics and Statistics – to prepare the next generation of data-oriented thinkers.
