Graduates work in financial departments of state organizations of the federal, regional and municipal levels, banks, tax inspectorates, stock exchanges, auditing, consulting, mortgage and insurance companies, investment funds, financial services of enterprises and organizations of all forms of ownership.

The Master’s program (38.04.08) in Finance (MiF) provides training for both professionals in financial and risk management, and for scholarly researchers in the area of finance. The program focuses on creating and developing competencies in financial management and risk management for financial institutions and non-financial companies.

The goal of the master’s program is to prepare highly skilled specialists, owning theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the field of wildlife economic management.

The Master’s program in “Banking and Finance” is a double degree program offered jointly by Baikal State University and University of Applied Sciences BFI, Vienna. This program is the result of BSU's participation in the European Union TEMPUS IV program. Graduate students of the Master’s program in “Banking and Finance” have an opportunity to study one semester at the University of Applied Sciences in Vienna and get a degree from two universities. During or after the course, graduate students have an opportunity to participate in international educational exchange programs such as Fulbright Program, DAAD, and others.

The program is a two-year route to a master’s degree in applied and international economics. It is designed for students who want to pursue a career in economic or financial consultancies, international business, or academia. As modern economics and global markets require professionals to have sound knowledge in economic theory, use data analysis, work with quantitative software, and to be able to study effectively, the program offers a range of courses which help to develop skills and expertise demanded by potential employers. The first year of the program is common for all the enrolled students and includes core economic courses (microeconomics, macroeconomics, econometrics, game theory) complemented by several research methodology disciplines. In the second year, students can choose one of two study tracks. The applied track focuses on economic and data analysis, while the international track is aimed to provide students with expertise in international business and the world economy. The courses of the program are taught by both local faculty (including people with Ph.D. degrees from Russian and foreign universities) and invited visiting professors from the leading Russian and European universities. A substantial number of courses are taught in English. We also regularly invite our corporate and academic partners for seminars and workshops which are integral elements of the program.

Throughout their educational activities, students can engage in various scientific organizations and laboratories, gaining experience in the field of scientific research. Research and Education Center "Controlling and Management Innovation" allows students to participate in international congresses and conferences, one of which is the "Production Control Center", created with the support of Mitsubishi Electric Europe. Graduates of this direction are in demand in various types of professional activities: organizational and managerial, analytical, research, teaching. Upon leaving the university, the student has a large store of knowledge of the processes of managing organizations of various organizational and legal forms, the processes of state and municipal management and research processes.
