This one year, full-time Masters programme is designed to deepen students’ understanding of electronic systems. If you are ambitious, want to stay abreast of new developments, wish to enhance your qualifications, are prepared to commit time to personal development and yet have limited opportunity for on-campus attendance, then this programme structure is designed for you. You can take courses remotely over the WEB - the distance learning option, attend lectures on-campus, or mix and match combining on-campus and distance learning to suit your particular circumstances.

Who is eligible?

To apply for this programme you must have a good honours degree in Electronic/Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, Computer Sciences or other Engineering disciplines. Choice of Majors

Internet of Things - This innovative Major addresses the emergent significance of the design and networking of Internet-connected embedded devices and technologies. The Major will provide graduates with knowledge, skills and competencies in the areas of real-time signal processing, data analysis and machine learning, connected embedded systems and network programming. At the forefront of current and future electronic and computer engineering developments, this Major offers a unique opportunity in the area of IoT.

Nanotechnology - The aim of this Major is to deliver leaders in nanoelectronics, high-level logic synthesis and photonics - strong interdisciplinary sectors with huge growth. This Major focuses on the skills and knowledge required to produce functional electronic and photonic devices and constituent structures of nanometer dimensions. It will also provide graduates with expertise in modern semiconductor manufacturing practices, methodologies and technologies.

Image Processing and Analysis - The growth of applications in manufacturing, biomedicine, media, ICT and the life sciences is creating a strong demand for graduates in the Image Processing & Analysis field. This Major will prepare graduates to specialise in the areas of image processing and analysis, computer & machine vision, biomedical imaging and image synthesis techniques.


The MEng in Electronic Systems is designed to be completed in one calendar year of full-time study. It consists of two (full-time) taught semesters, followed by a practical project, completed between May and early September. The next intake for this programme will be September 2017.
