The INSEAD Executive Master in Change (EMC) is a degree programme unlike any other. Spanning over 18 months and eight modules of three to four days, it takes you deep into the basic drivers of human behavior and the hidden dynamics of organizations.

Integrating business education with a range of psychological disciplines, the programme enables you to understand yourself and others at a fundamental level – and to use that knowledge to create more effective organisations.

Academics

The Executive Master in Change was developed from the phenomenally successful INSEAD Executive Education programme of the same name. This ran for 11 years until it became a Master in 2011 - and was always oversubscribed. The only major change from the previous highly effective format is the addition of the eighth module, a Master thesis, and practicum (supervised coaching/consulting practice).

The EMC is a programme about human relations and behavior – applied to management and drawing on a broad range of academic disciplines. Despite the name, this is not a programme designed to train consultants or coaches, or a change management course. However, it does use the techniques of all three areas of expertise.

Admissions

We believe in admissions as a two-way process. We help you decide whether this programme is right for you and whether you are right for this programme.

At the heart of the admissions process is our unique application form. If you don’t like the questions – which are personal and probing, rather than just focusing on your achievements – then you almost certainly won’t like the programme.

Alongside the written application, there are two conversations – by phone with the Admissions and a face to face interview with one of the Programme Directors. You will probably have to travel for the second conversation, but not necessarily as far as INSEAD's campuses.

Admissions Criteria

We are looking for experienced managers, consultants or coaches with intellectual curiosity, a desire to learn and readiness to challenge themselves in a rigorous academic programme. We welcome applications from around the world regardless of race, religion, nationality or gender.

Our aim is to build a top-quality, exciting, dynamic and diverse group of participants. Typically, you will find yourself in a class of 36 - with an equal share of men and women – from approximately 20 nationalities and 20 sectors.

Dates & Deadlines

Please be warned, the programme fills early, so we recommend that you apply as early as you can – up to 10 months before Module 1. The final application deadline is 2 months before the start of the programme.

Early places are awarded on individual merit. However, later applications are considered in the context of the group that is coming together. Admissions stop when all 36 places are filled, but your application can be considered for a later session of the programme if you wish. We also keep a waiting list for about 3 months before the programme starts. We are often able to accommodate those who can remain flexible, as the start date approaches.
