This Master in Sociology has been designed to prepare international highly qualified researchers, professionals, experts, managers, technicians, professors and candidates to doctoral programmes.

Lecturing is focused on structures and institutions of contemporary societies, its processes and agents of change, current social problems and existing forms of individual and collective action.
It’s addressed to graduates in Sociology and other areas that are interested in obtaining a specialized sociological training.
As a student you will share a vibrant worldwide academic environment in the centre of Lisbon, benefiting from learning with highly reputed transnational sociologists.
Students will be hosted at a well established Department of Sociology, and invited to take part of research projects at one of the most prestigious research centres, the Centre for Research and Studies in Sociology (CIES_Iscte) and of International Conferences organized in collaboration with the Doctoral Programme in Sociology. Previous talks by Anthony Giddens, Bernard Lahire, Catherine Wihtol de Wenden, Fernando Henrique Cardoso, François Héran, Hans Joas, Jean-Michel Berthelot, Jeffrey C. Alexander, John Scott, Jonathan H. Turner, Jürgen Habermas, Margaret Archer, Nicos Mouzelis, Philippe C. Schmitter, Randall Collins, Thomas Brante, and Tom R. Burns.
This Master comprises two classes: one with lectures in English language and another with lectures in Portuguese language.
