Introduction

By way of affecting the social wellness and social welfare as well as the health status of a society, the health care sector is among the most important sectors in a country.

In addition to its universal mission of maintaining and improving the health status of the people of its country, the Turkish health sector also aims to protect its people from the financial burden of health expenses and respond to their expectations from the sector. With these aims in mind, many changes are taking place in the sector, especially in the areas of providing and financing health services.

As a result of these changes, there is the need for managers who will not only develop solutions for the existing problems but also shape the future of the sector. Thus, health management took its place within professions that have a bright future in career planning.

Istanbul Medipol University Health Management master programs (with and without dissertation requirements) were opened in the Fall semester of the 2012-2013 academic year in order to contribute to the fulfillment of professional health management needs in the sector.
