Summary

Whether you are a seasoned professional or a recent graduate, our MSc Project Management can equip you for exciting career progression across a wide range of sectors in the UK or internationally.

Designed to align with PMI and IPMA/APM standards, the MSc Project Management familiarises students with the most recognisable standards in Project Management. It equips students with the skills to pursue certification with either Project Management standard after graduation. The PMI/IPMA methods are flexible and fit a wide range of organisations and goals, lending itself to the Change Management focus of this programme. The programme also introduces students to the PRINCE2 framework.

Students of our MSc Project Management will have the option to follow a route to become a specialist project manager or to focus on strategic change management. The Strategic Change Management pathway will explore the human side of Project Management: transitioning individuals, teams, and organisations from the current state to a desired future state. Most project management work involves organisational change that requires careful management. Successful organisational change requires attention to the people involved (including selection and training, the human implications of resourcing, stakeholder management, etc.), while also bringing technology and finance along on the journey. Understanding these aspects of project management can provide valuable context for a student's or graduate's professional Project Management work.

Your gateway to a rewarding professional adventure

For those passionate about bringing about meaningful change and showcasing organisational skills and adaptability, a Master's in Project Management is a way to build your skills toward work across a wide range of industries based on your interests.

Project Management, as a field, develops skills that are highly transferable between industries. This program will appeal to students from any academic or professional background who wish to develop their skills in managing projects and can lead to a career in any field that requires the management of large projects.

What makes our MSc Project Management unique?

  • We emphasise the "human" side of project management, particularly present during rapid change. Strategy, communication, and leadership are the key areas of expertise throughout the programme. Several courses explore the needs of people and their environments to determine the steps taken with project management tools and techniques
  • Successful project management depends heavily on the correct alignment of the project with the organisational strategy and the alignment of its people to the task. Our courses explore strategic planning and adequate organisational design, which are required to achieve alignment
  • Our leadership in experiential education enables us to create a selection of teaching and assessment methods that generate value for students in their personal and career development
  • Our strong Sustainability focus is present throughout the course options, which offer various angles on Sustainability, mainly through the following courses: Stakeholder Management and Communication Skills, Sustainability in the Business Environment, and Sustainable Development, each of which study the topic through the lenses of different subjects, from Business to Politics and International Relations
  • The presence of relevant electives across the more comprehensive provision makes the programme ideal for studying Project Management with an understanding of the wider world, from the socio-political and natural environments to the ethical considerations implicit in organisational choices and strategies.

Experiential learning: Empowering students to learn and solve problems in context
