Introduction
The aim of the MSc program in Food Technology is to provide a general understanding of food properties and production, and knowledge of technologies involved in the production of safe and healthy food that qualifies the recipient not only to analyze and control but also to design, innovate and develop food production systems and food products. Those completing the MSc in Food Technology can integrate research and development (R&D) institutions/departments, food companies’ technical staff, or work at the intermediate/senior management level in the food industry.
The acquired skills will enable them to carry out activities associated with e.g. the processing and analysis of food and (alcoholic) beverages, research and development of new food products and processes, food safety and quality, assessment, and mitigation of the environmental impact of the food industry, traceability, and authenticity of food products.
Admission requirements
Conditions of Access
- Holders of a higher education degree in the areas of Food Engineering, Food Science, Biology, Chemistry, Agronomy, Biotechnology, Biomedical Sciences, Nutrition, or similar scientific areas, obtained in agreement with the principles of the Bologna Process.
- Holders of a foreign academic degree: a) attributed in a first cycle of studies organized according to the principles of the Bologna Process by a signatory state to this process; b) recognized as fulfilling the objectives of a degree by the Scientific Councils or Technical-Scientific Councils.
- When justified, holders of an academic, scientific, or professional curriculum vitae that is recognized by the Scientific Councils or Technical-Scientific Council as attesting the capacity to carry out this study cycle.

- Academic-scientific curriculum.
- Technical and professional curriculum.
Necessary documentation
- Duly filled application form (available online).
- Certificates of academic qualifications (including the transcript of records).
- Curriculum vitae.
- Copy of personal identification document (Citizen Card, Passport, or equivalent).
- Other documents attesting competencies or skills as well as a letter(s) of recommendation (optional) that complement the application.
Scholarships & funding
As we are a public university, no studentships are available for Bachelor, Master, or Ph.D. degrees, independently of the student's nationality. Nevertheless, for the second academic year (thesis research) there is a possibility to apply for a studentship in research projects running in our science and technology centers. You can apply for a studentship while completing your first academic year of the Master but we cannot guarantee that there will be funding for all students for the second research year.

- Registration Fee and School Insurance: 175 Euros
Note: The tuition of this course can be paid in 10 installments, the first at the time of registration.
