Introduction

The creation of an advanced cycle of studies in History and Cultural Heritages consolidates an area in which the University of Algarve has been a pioneer among Portuguese universities, since it created, in 1999, the degree in Cultural Heritage.

It seeks to combine the methodologies of History, Art History, and literary studies, in the sense of integrating them in a reading that meets the multifaceted processes of production and cultural transmission.

The proposed structure, with three branches of specialization, in History of the Algarve, in History of Art, and in Heritage of the Word, seeks to encompass research hypotheses both at the regional level and in the broader scope of Portuguese-speaking culture, naturally including expansion spaces.
