Introduction

The University's Department of History is one of the largest and most diverse historical institutes in the German-speaking world.

Strategic management is the responsibility of the seminar board. Together with the management, he also ensures the operational management of the seminar. The central services provide services for all employees and students, are responsible for the coordination of committees and design central processes at the interface to the dean's office of the Faculty of Philosophy and to central offices of the University of Zurich.

The seminar organization should guarantee freedom in teaching and research and at the same time ensure joint guidelines and stringent study programs that are UZH-compliant through co-determination of the stands.

The most important body for discussions and decisions is the seminar conference, which meets two to three times per semester. A distribution key ensures that all stands are represented.

The standing and temporary commissions prepare business and decisions for the seminar conference. An informal agreement and coordination between the chairs takes place within the departments.
