The MA in African Studies is a year-and-a-half-long Program (three semesters). The first year is dedicated to formal study and coursework at BGU. Students must finish their required and electives classes over the course of two semesters during this first year. During the third semester, students must spend a minimum of three months on a local project in Africa.

Relevant honours degree with specialisation in a language, linguistics or a language-related discipline

This multidisciplinary program offers you the opportunity to learn about Africa from a wide range of perspectives: historical, literary, cultural, socio-economical, and political.

The MA in African Studies and Intensive Language from SOAS provides students with competency in language skills and intercultural awareness and understanding. Familiarity with the region will have been developed through a combination of the study of language, history, cinema, politics, economics or law.

Deepen your understanding of international affairs and contemporary diplomatic practise with a regional focus on the Middle East & North Africa. This programme will give you a theoretically and historically informed understanding of the practice of international diplomacy, broadly conceived, and its applications in the Middle East & North Africa.

The M.A. program in African Studies at HLS is designed for students who plan to pursue careers in government, international relations, or another professional field. Our faculty are engaged in a wide variety of research and teaching throughout all regions of the continent, as well as across disciplines in the arts, humanities, and social sciences. We also offer career resources and work one-on-one with students to find internships and study abroad opportunities.

Department of African Studies offers two Master's programs in African Studies: M.A. in African Studies - English (with thesis) and M.A. in African Studies - Turkish (with thesis) with the objective of providing a thorough understanding of the political and socioeconomic conditions of African countries.
