The Master of Screenwriting is a practice-based graduate coursework degree taking eighteen months of full-time study. Admission is based on completion of a three-year undergraduate degree, creative writing portfolio and interview. The course is designed for those who have a desire to write audience-engaged stories for a visual medium and for people wishing to work as professional screenwriters.

The Editing program is designed around the aesthetic, technical, and collaborative aspects of post-production with the primary focus on storytelling. Fellows develop the skills to be editors, assistant editors and post-production producers while collaborating with other team members.

The Master of Fine Arts (Film and Television) gives experienced film and television practitioners, and high level film students, the opportunity to engage in independent research in their field. The degree will enable student researchers to develop mastery and advance the practice and theory in their field.

If you have completed a Bachelor’s Degree in film or a related field, have a wealth of experience in film composing, film making and wish to expand your knowledge and skills, enroll for Montage, a 3-year follow-up Master’s Program at FAMU. The core of the program is intensive work in workshops always led by active professional film editors, capable of conveying their current working experience and a theoretical view of film editing to students. There are never more than six students in each workshop, which allows for providing an individualized approach to each of the students.

Within this Master's program, students deepen their knowledge and understanding of screenwriting. During this two-year process, the theoretical aspects are combined with the actual practice. Master participants study the history of screenwriting, the specificity of the film script and the possibilities of defining it. At the same time, he becomes familiar with different cinematic narrative structures, approaches specific genres, analyzes the possibilities of adapting a literary text and explores types of scenarios characteristic of television or VOD platforms (series, mini-series, etc.).
