Master Programs in Social Sciences Anthropology Social Anthropology
Master’s degree programs exist to allow students who have already attained a level of professional expertise in a field to develop that expertise further. The programs reinforce and teach core competencies that define the leadership and decision-making experience necessary for advancement in the field.
What is a Master in Social Anthropology? It’s an advanced degree that builds on the core knowledge of anthropology gained in an undergraduate program with specific coursework in modern societies and social approaches to understanding human nature. Its focus is usually strongly built around understanding social scientific methods rather than anatomy or archaeology, and its methods are more often applied to contemporary societies, rather than isolated populations and historic social situations.
Students in these degree programs may learn to understand human interaction better, to identify the forces that influence it, and to clearly communicate their thoughts to others. These skills enrich life and career experiences directly by providing a toolbox for expressing the connections between social forces and human behavior.
There’s no one cost for degree programs in social anthropology. That’s because tuition rates tend to vary from location to location. In general, a master’s program may take two to three years of full-time study to complete, which makes it easy to predict tuition costs after looking into schools.
Social anthropology graduates are in demand for positions as local government officers in many countries. They are also quite often pursued by charities for positions as officers in nonprofit companies. International organizations also hire social anthropology graduates for international aid worker positions. It is not unusual for workers in these fields to gain experience as aid workers before rising to officer positions, either.
Finding a program that fits each student’s needs begins with a search that keeps options open. Look at online and brick-and-mortar schools, and investigate your international options. Search for your program below and contact directly the admission office of the school of your choice by filling in the lead form.
