In the MFA Textile Design program, courses hone students’ knowledge of industry standards, combining design excellence with the mastery of the latest digital tools, and furthering their knowledge of textile printing techniques and fabric manipulation. Their thesis project culminates in the production of a portfolio of textile design that exhibits their original voice and individual aesthetic. The Master in Creative Knitwear Design offers a unique experience in the world which puts students in contact with the Italian district of Knitwear Design of Reggio Emilia. The course is developed in collaboration with Modateca Deanna, an important center of documentation visited by designers coming from all over the world and which includes thousands of garments of prestigious and rare collections of the most famous Maisons and designers from Valentino to Jean-Paul Gautier, Chanel and many more. More than 40 partners collaborate in the Industry Projects, real projects that introduce students in the Fashion System and that ends with the presentation of their collection at Pitti Filati in Florence, an international event in which every year the excellence of Knitwear Design showcase their collections. Materials research, design, and technical development take place in the companies of the manufacturing district of Reggio Emilia with which the course is in partnership. The Textile Engineering program is a continuation of the first-cycle program. It trains specialists in the field with high potential for innovation. The curriculum makes it possible to learn the skills related to the design and engineering of textiles for medical, sports, and transport applications based on the latest material technologies. Students also learn to develop specialized textile applications for many different areas of human activity.

This programme will give you an overview of the fundamentals of textiles and fashion to build upon your existing degree in topics like business administration, industrial economy, textile engineering, textile design, and fashion design. This will provide interdisciplinary and multicultural perspectives on the challenges related to working towards sustainable textiles and fashion. The main emphasis on sustainability is also an important area of research throughout the Swedish School of Textiles.

On Textile we train professionally sound partners who are able to engage in teamwork that goes beyond the subject's own borders - for example to the industry, architects, fashion industry and others who work with active and visual narratives.

The Craft Studies MA curriculum expands on the discipline and understanding of contemporary crafts and advances professional development, critical expression, and artistic research into materials, processes, concepts and identities. Through studio work and craft theory, students take part in recrafting the cultural, social, economic and ecological narratives. This program is a hub for emerging craft makers and thinkers.

There are 480 students currently attending classes at faculty, where 320 students are in the full-time education and 160 in part-time education. Over 75% of the students get state funding scholarship. Part-time education studies require tuition fee contracts.
