Registered dietitian nutritionists (RDN) engage people of all ages, cultures, health concerns, and socioeconomic levels to address a range of nutritional needs. RDNs are skilled health care professionals who apply the art and science of food and nutrition at individual, institutional, organizational, community, and population levels.

The Master of Science Lifespan, Nutrition and Dietetics (M.S.L.N.D.) program’s mission is to improve the lives of individuals by addressing the global need for professionals trained to provide nutrition and dietetics advice, information, and recommendations. Our graduates will distinguish themselves with specialized knowledge of the nutritional needs of a global aging population. Students who complete the program are eligible to sit for the national Certifying Board for Dietary Managers (C.B.D.M.) Credentialing Exam.

Loma Linda University offers educational opportunities in programs at the bachelor’s degree level, at the Master's degree program in Nutrition and Dietetics, and at the MPH degree level in Public Health Nutrition. The bachelor's and master's degree programs lead to eligibility to write the Registration Examination to become a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist. Nutrition and Dietetics faculty are Christian educators whose professional expertise is utilized in all programs. Each faculty member is an experienced nutrition and dietetics professional who is committed to graduating individuals who are well prepared to enter the field of nutrition and dietetics. Faculty members are involved in many professional activities outside the department that contribute to the development of the profession or assist in international food and nutrition issues.

The Master of Science in Dietetics Program is a 14-month, non-thesis degree program consisting of 11 courses completed in seven units of 7-week sessions. The coursework provides you with the academic background to apply to practice settings. All courses are taught by faculty members with graduate degrees who are Registered Dietitian Nutritionists (RDNs).

his option is only available to Registered Dietitians (RD) -OR- those who have met both the academic and supervised practice requirements of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and are ready to sit for the national credentialing exam to become a Registered Dietitian –OR- those who have a DPD verification statement.
