The MSc Human Nutrition and Dietetics program offered at the University of Limerick (UL) is a Graduate Entry Masters of Science program delivered over two years full-time. This innovative evidence-based interfaculty program is an opportunity for honours graduates to pursue studies that will lead to them becoming competent nutritionists and dietitians working across a diverse range of environments to include the clinical, community and public health settings, hospital and private practices, food service management and food industry.

The MSc in Medical Device Design is a one-year full time taught masters delivered in NCAD in conjunction with TCD. The course is based in a dedicated Medical Device Design Studio on the NCAD campus. The programme consists of a combination of taught modules and studio-based project work. Basic Medical Science is taught at TCD, while modules covering Research Methods, Human Factors, and Fundamentals of Medical Device Design are delivered at NCAD. Bioinstrumentation is provided by the team of the Medical Physics Department in St James’s Hospital. Fundamentals of Medical Device Design modules cover diverse topics from the History of Medicine to Biomechanics and Biomaterials. In parallel with the taught modules, a series of studio-based projects are run at NCAD in conjunction with industrial and clinical partners. Industry partners include US multinationals with a base in Ireland along with Irish start-up companies.

The MSc Food, Nutrition and Health is aimed at graduates from various disciplines and the programme is suitable for both science and non-science graduates. Students will be educated on the fundamentals of food science and nutrition after which the curriculum enables students to choose topics for more detailed focus.

DCU’s MSc in Science and Health Communication equips graduates to tackle global challenges by making science accessible and engaging. Founded in 1996, it welcomes STEM and humanities professionals, offering expertise in public engagement, health policy, and communication across diverse platforms and sectors.

This Masters of Science in Public Health is designed to equip students with marketable and transferable skillset and competencies that will enhance their career in public health or other health-related disciplines, both locally and internationally.

This new programme has more flexible entry requirements (e.g. RPL) than the existing MSc in Sport, Exercise and Performance Psychology and also has the option of an exit award after 60 credits completed (e.g. Higher Diploma Award). This degree runs parallel to the existing programme which aligns to the Psychological Society of Ireland accreditation requirements. The purpose of this degree is to offer a pathway for those seeking to upskill on topic areas relating to mental skills and mental health in sport and the degree is not a qualification in psychology. It offers a grounding in research and application for those who seek further training to pursue roles that don’t explicitly require a qualification in psychology (e.g. sports coaching, sports management etc.).

The focus of the MPsychSc Psychological Science programme is on acquiring basic applied psychology skills to equip you for doctoral studies in clinical, counselling, educational or organisational psychology, or for progressing to a PhD in psychological research. Over the year students work with a staff member to complete a research project. In keeping with the skills-based focus of the programme, the research is written up as a journal article that conforms to the publication style of an identified journal. Applicants are invited to review the research areas of the School's Academic Staff.

DCU's MSc in Psychotherapy equips you with the skills and knowledge needed to work with a diverse range of clients facing complex and multifaceted needs. Throughout the course, you'll study evidence-based, flexible, and responsive psychotherapeutic approaches to support and treat adults with psychological issues. You'll also complete modules on adult intimate relationships and psychosexual well-being, enabling you to work with both individuals and couples after graduation.

DCU's MSc in Psychology and Wellbeing is the only programme of its kind in Ireland, explicitly focusing on the wellbeing of individuals, families, and communities—making it highly attractive to prospective employers. Throughout the course, you'll explore mental health, community psychology, innovations in psychological practice, environmental influences, and wellbeing across the lifespan.

The program is based in the Department of Psychology, which has a strong focus on research and its applications to social issues; it reflects the core orientation of the department with emphases on research methods, applied and social psychology and clinical psychology; the course represents an exit route for those interested in research careers in the voluntary or state sector, and it provides an excellent basis for entry to doctoral level degree programs in psychology.

The MSc in Bioprocessing explores the fundamental science behind bioprocessing ranging from molecular biology to downstream processing in the manufacture of pharmaceuticals.

This MSc. program is dedicated to providing a thorough grounding in the knowledge and application of psychological principles to sport, exercise and performance settings in order to enhance wellbeing and performance. It seeks to equip candidates with a sound understanding of theory and research and develop core competencies and professional skills across a range of key domains including the following: motor cognition and skill acquisition; performance psychology; exercise and mental health; applied positive psychology; organisational behaviour and wellbeing; professional issues and ethics; and research design and methods. The core aims of the program are to create an outstanding and distinctive learning experience through innovations in teaching (e.g. e-learning module in applied positive psychology), instilling a scientist practitioner approach across both sport and exercise contexts and highlighting the role of ethical considerations in practice.

The course is designed to enhance graduates' critical thinking and develop evidence based practitioners as future leaders of effective services. Graduates will obtain an in-depth knowledge of an area of Health Sciences to apply to their professional practice. From this course, graduates will be able to describe and appreciate the strengths and weaknesses of the current range of theory and research. They will reflect critically on their own and others' learning styles and practice.

The Master of Science in Digital Health is an interdisciplinary programme developed in partnership with, healthcare service providers and with clinical experts in the field of digital health. This course is aimed at postgraduate students who wish to enhance their knowledge, competencies, attitudes, and skills within the context of digital health and health care systems. This course will enable graduates to function efficiently as healthcare leaders and innovators within a digitally enabled healthcare environment.

There is a growing awareness of the widespread harm caused by addiction to individuals, families and society at large and an evolving shift of reliance from a medically based model of treatment to engaging in Talking Therapies.
