The educational mission of the PETROLEUM GEOSCIENCES Program at The Petroleum Institute is to provide a high-quality education in petroleum geology and geophysics and to produce graduates for successful and socially and ethically responsible careers in the petroleum industry that meet or exceed the needs and expectations of ADNOC and other industry sponsors.

The mission of the Electrical Engineering Program is to provide a world-class education in electrical engineering with emphasis on power and control systems engineering that prepares graduates for successful professional careers in ADNOC, with other sponsors, and in the broader energy industry.

The mission of the Chemical Engineering Department at the Petroleum Institute is to provide a world-class education in chemical engineering science and practice, and to produce graduates and future leaders who are capable of meeting or exceeding the needs and expectations of PI sponsors from oil and gas, and broader energy industry.

The Master of Science in Medical Physics combines in-depth knowledge and practical experience to educate and train qualified medical physicists in the areas of diagnostic imaging, radiation therapy, nuclear medicine and radiation protection. The program aims at fulfilling the needs of the country for competent medical physics practitioners. Students will utilize modelling, computer simulation and experimental techniques as tools to analyze and understand different phenomena and processes. Graduates of the MSc will have acquired the advanced level of knowledge and experience to assume a career in hospitals, in industry and government, as well as continuing their studies to the Doctorate level.

The degree of Master of Science in Computational Data Science (M.Sc. in CODS), which combines computer science and mathematics, is awarded for successfully completing the requirements of a program of study, which includes taught courses, a project and a thesis. The thesis is an independent investigation of specialized areas within the general field of computational data science and associated disciplines. The M.Sc. in CODS gives candidates the opportunity to deepen their knowledge in the broad field of computational data science and contribute to the process of discovery and knowledge creation through the conduct of original research. Candidates for this degree are taught and supervised by experienced faculty and are expected to demonstrate initiative in their approach and innovation in their work. In addition to successfully completing the taught course and project components of the program, candidates prepare and present a thesis on their chosen research area. Research may be undertaken in several topics corresponding to the areas of focus identified by the University.

In the Master of Science in Information, Network, and Computer Security, you will critically evaluate various technical/architectural solutions to limit risk, mitigate the effects of hostile action, and recover from attacks; design, implement, and maintain software tools to support network security across multiple operating systems; oversee the information lifecycle of an organization, including planning, acquisition, and implementation of secure infrastructures; study algorithm concepts, computer forensics, risk management and legal issues, and intrusion detection and hacker exploits.

The mission of the graduate program in mechanical engineering at The Petroleum Institute is to provide graduate students with learning opportunities for acquiring a broad base of mechanical engineering knowledge necessary for advanced work in Mechanical engineering, an in-depth research experience in thermo-fluids and/or mechanics and materials and/or controls and automation, and the necessary skills for life-long learning and professional development.

The program will emphasize the importance of ethical conduct; health, safety and environmental issues and will provide platforms for life-long learning.

The Master of Science in Business Analytics with Artificial Intelligence Management concentration is designed for students to understand the science behind Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the metrics to measure success with an organization. This program covers Artificial Intelligence in various businesses contexts to leverage AI in current business practices. This program will enable students to gain knowledge and competencies in AI oriented systems and embed intelligent-driven decisions within an organization.  

The degree of Master of Science in Applied Mathematics (MSc in Applied Mathematics) is awarded for successfully completing the requirements of a program of study, which includes taught courses and a thesis. The thesis is an independent investigation of specialized areas within the general field of Applied Mathematics.

Upon successful completion of the nationally recognized and NYSED-approved NYIT program, you’ll be eligible for New York State certification as an Educational Technology Specialist and for permanent or professional certification in your initial certification area. An option for non-certified educators and others interested in technology in teaching and learning is also available.

To provide a high quality education in applied chemistry, and to produce research chemists with an engineering background who are capable of fulfilling some of the key research and technical needs of the petroleum industry.

The Master of Science in Business Analytics with a Big Data Management concentration is designed to enable business professionals to improve their data analytics skills and competencies to solve business problems in their organizations. This program will empower students to manage data-oriented systems and embed data-driven decisions within an organization by bringing leadership skills and comprehensive knowledge from big data disciplines to the management table. Students will get a grasp on the emerging tools and technologies available to tackle challenges in Big Data Management.
