The Master of Political Science (MS) program aims to help the student develop professionally in the field of research and analysis of political processes, with the rigor of the instruments offered by contemporary political science and, at the same time, the improvement of skills and abilities for the analysis of global political systems.

The Master's Program in International Business (MS, MIMLA) aims to develop a professional with world-class competencies with the ability to understand the ever-changing dynamics of the environment and understand the relationships of different forces that positively or negatively affect the dynamics of organizations, to manage and manage modern processes of technological development and innovation, in line with the demands of the national and international future environment.

The Master of Renewable Energy (MS) program helps students develop practical skills and knowledge required to critically evaluate alternative energy sources, and provide applied solutions to the energy demand. The major is decidedly interdisciplinary in nature, focusing on the underlying natural processes relating to renewable energy and employing the scientific method.

The Master of Public Health (MS) program objective is to prepare students to be in the frontier helping to improve the health of a community and or targeted population through education, promotion, research, and disease prevention. The Master of Public Health program is offered online via distance learning.

The Master of Mathematics (MS) program objective is to help students obtain specialized knowledge and solid math teaching skills that prepare them for their professional development. The Master of Mathematics (MS) program is offered online via distance learning. After evaluating both academic records and life experience, AIU staff working in conjunction with Faculty and Academic Advisors will assist students in setting up a custom-made program, designed on an individual basis.

The Master of Management (MS, MBM) program objective is to provide students a broader view of business so that they learn to think strategically, understand organizational culture, and effectively motivate the people who power a business. The Master of Management program is offered online via distance learning. After evaluating both academic record and life experience, AIU staff working in conjunction with Faculty and Academic Advisors will assist students in setting up a custom-made program, designed on an individual basis.

Interest in nutrition, food, and food relationship to human health and fitness has never been greater than today. The Department of Human Nutrition, Food, and Animal Sciences offers an MS degree in food science. The concentration areas include food safety and quality, food processing and engineering, food chemistry and biochemistry, food microbiology, food science education, and special area.

Graduate programs in Earth Sciences (EARTH) are focused primarily on learning advanced methodologies and critical thinking by conducting focused research centered around one of three disciplinary cores that foster research reflecting the interdisciplinary nature of the field (geophysics and tectonics, marine and environmental geology, and volcanology/geochemistry/petrology). In addition, students can pursue studies in planetary science and mineral physics with advisors in the Hawai‘i Institute of Geophysics and Planetology (HIGP)

Through courses in dynamic, synoptic, and physical meteorology, students develop a strong foundation in tropical meteorology, the department’s special field, and are prepared to do professional research in the atmospheric sciences.

Travel and tourism make up the world's leading industry. Its projected growth is expected to create increasing investment and employment opportunities in the United States and abroad, for both the travel industry and its supporting industries. In Hawaii, the travel industry will likely remain the major economic sector, continuing to generate directly and indirectly over one-third of all jobs for the future. Fifteen to 20 percent of these jobs are expected to be management positions.

The MS degree program is offered under either Plan A (thesis) or Plan B (non-thesis). A total of 30 credit hours are required for each degree option. The Marine Biology Graduate Program is an interdisciplinary program co-administered by the College of Natural Sciences and the School of Ocean and Earth Sciences and Technology, offering MS and Ph.D. degrees in Marine Biology. Marine biological studies at the University of Hawaiʻi have a long history of excellent research and graduate training in highly competitive programs like Botany, Microbiology, Oceanography, and Zoology. The Marine Biology Graduate Program provides graduate students access to experts in all of these disciplines.

The Master of Science degree program in travel industry management is designed to provide a specialized education through coursework and research to master a broad and sophisticated set of interdisciplinary skills and knowledge. Students develop analytical abilities and the critical thinking skills necessary for careers in the travel and tourism industry. The master’s degree is a broader preparation for graduates to take the first step into leadership roles. Given the program’s focus, students are expected to engage in understanding and execution of rigorous research activities which could also lead to further advanced education. The program prepares students for advanced careers and leadership roles across the spectrum of the travel industry including tourism, hospitality, and transportation management as well as areas integrating the entire industry including information technology, finance, marketing, policy, and planning. Students may also explore specific topics of interest including sustainable tourism, eco-tourism, electronic commerce, social and cultural aspects of travel and tourism, among many others. The program and faculty also have a strong emphasis and expertise in travel and tourism in the Asia-pacific region. Students come from many countries with strong representation from Asia as well as North America and Hawaiʻi.

Designed to produce scientists who are experts in their research areas with a broad-based understanding of the biology, ecology, evolution, and life processes of marine organisms, this program also addresses the growing need, locally and globally, for technically trained scientists, managers, and policymakers who understand the many processes that govern tropical marine ecosystems.

The Master of Science in Criminal Justice (MSCJ) degree is designed for those who want to advance in the field of criminal justice and seek a deeper understanding of criminal justice issues for application in related fields.
