Modelling of environmental processes is a key part of daily practice in many public and private institutes. Indeed, assessment of flood risk, climate change impacts on water resources, efficient design of adaptation measures or contaminant transport, to name just a few, all require modelling. This is why environmental modellers are increasingly sought by employers. Environmental modelling master programme therefore prepares the graduates to combine knowledge of applied mathematics, statistics and informatics with understanding of processes related to atmosphere, soil, surface and subsurface water, groundwater and contaminant transport.

Environmental Geosciences graduates will gain the necessary theoretical and practical knowledge of Earth sciences, specifically in the field of geology, environmental geochemistry (e.g., environmental contamination), environmental hydrogeology and paleoecology (e.g., global climate development). During their studies, students will gain experience with modern analytical procedures and will attend practical courses and workshops.

Environmental Geosciences are currently at the forefront of many scientific disciplines and have an important practical outcome as well. The understanding of pollutants’ behavior in various environmental compartments, remediation of contaminated sites and evolution of ecosystems in the Earth’s history are just a few examples of the topics covered by the program. The laboratories at the Faculty of Environmental Sciences are equipped with high-end instrumentation for advanced specialized methods used in environmental geochemistry, such as speciation and specialized isotope analyses. The Landscape Planning programme aims to sufficiently prepare graduates to be competitive in the international job market. The field of study is therefore strongly oriented toward the acquisition of practical skills, wherein the professional staff of the faculty, including foreign scientific researchers, will share their current knowledge in the field of landscape planning, landscape ecology and landscape architecture with you.

Students learn by working on real projects and become skilled in applied sustainable land use planning and resource management. We often focus this work on the dynamic and varied landscape of the Czech Republic, however sustainable approaches to landscape planning can be applied elsewhere.... [-]

Nature Conservation (NCO) master's degree program is open for bachelor's degree-holders with a background in ecology, biology, zoology, botany, conservation biology, landscape ecology or environmental sciences. The NCO program is best suited for those wishing to acquire advanced knowledge and research-based skills in nature conservation. The NCO program provides a solid understanding of both applied and theory-based resource conservation and management, based on principles of applied landscape ecology. NCO is an accredited degree program required for the practice of management of protected landscape areas with the Nature Conservation Agency of the Czech Republic, the EU and applicable international locations as well....
